subject: tree replacement, i.e. melaleucas
It's good that these will be removed, however, it seems we have already identified beautiful trees that are acceptable and could be chosen for these newly bare spots that are calling for a tree. One type that quickly comes to mind are the beautiful maples that were placed in the bike path area 6-7 years ago.
What kinds of trees are being considered?
Thanks to all the neighbors that are working hard on the landscape committee.

Marilyn,
Thanks for posting a comment!
In selecting trees for the new spots we are considering the following:
- The sites are very small - we want a tree that will not cause future problems and excessive maintenance (especially roots & width) as it grows to maturity.
- The trees being removed are evergreen trees - we want to keep a balance of deciduous and evergreen trees so that during the winter months we still have some trees with leaves. Most of the replacements trees will likely be evergreen.
- Water requirements - we are not using trees with high water requirements. We prefer trees with low water requirements.
- Debris - since most locations are near walkways, we want to avoid trees that have excessively messy debris.
- We also want each tree to work with the other plants already in its specific location.
