Landscape Improvements Installed

The landscape improvements on Oak Park from Parfait to Shepardson are nearly complete.  We still have a few trees to place.  You may have noticed some small additons to other areas.  We've added some plants in previously improved areas in order adjust for failed and damaged plants or plants that have not filled in as anticipated.   The most notable other improvement was the removal of the large rosemary shrub near the sidewalk on Riddell.  Removal of this shrub revealed the rocks behind the rosemary.

We are looking forward to seeing a more colorful spring as a result of new plantings!

Landscape Improvements Coming Soon!!!

Work on the section of Oak Park between Parfait and Shepardson  will be done in November.  This area encompasses the improvements described in the Oak Park/Parfait Corners and Oak Park/Shepardson Projects.  Unhealthy plants and plants not consistent with the design intent are being removed. New plants that are draught tolerant and low maintenance will be added including several trees.

Some of the California native plants that we have been using include arcostaphylos (manzanita) and ceanothos. Other plants are selected from areas with a similar climate to ours.

Barbara Doyle Plaque Unveiled

On October 16th, the Board recognized the many years of Barbara Doyle's volunteer work on the pool committee by naming the pool in her honor.   Thanks go to Holly for organizing the party. The following are some of the pictures from the party.

Oak Park/Shepardson Corners Project approved for planting!

At the last Board Meeting, the Board gave to the okay to go ahead with the landscape improvements for the Oak Park/Shepardson Corners Project. Together with previously approved Oak Park/Parfait Corners Project, the area to be improved this fall includes Oak Park between Parfait and Shepardson. Also in the works are some tree replacements.

Oak Park/Parfait Corners Project Approved for Planting

At their August meeting, our Board approved the proposal for the Oak Park/Parfait Corners Project. We are hoping to plant in the late October/early November time frame when our rainy season begins. This will help get the plants off to a good start. At the same meeting, the Board also approved obtaining a proposal for the Oak Park/Shepardson Corners project.

The Oak Park/Parfait Corners Project includes the area on the right of the gate as you enter running along Oak Park until the area where it intersects with Parfait. The Oak Park/Shepardson Corners Project includes the area opposite the front gate running along Oak Park to left as you enter until the area where it intersects with Shepardson.

The design for the Oak Park/Shepardson corners project has been posted on the blog - click on the rightmost tab above to view it. If you any comments you want considered before the design is final, please either post them here or contact Lyra no later than August 17.

Four new trees planted (at last!)

The four new trees have finally been planted. Two of the trees are at the lagoon end of Bay park terrace, one is next to 4 Shepardson and one is near the end of Parfait.

Board approves Oak Park/Parfait Corners Project Design!

At last night's board meeting, the Board approved the design. The next step is get a bid for implementing the design.

Update on Landscape Improvement Projects

The design for Oak Park/Parfait Corners Project will be presented to the Board for approval at the May 31 Board Meeting. All comments received by May 15 will be taken into consideration by the Board prior to finalizing the design. Once the design is approved, a request for proposal will be prepared.

The next project is the Oak Park/Shepardson Corner project. This project includes from the area opposite the front gate to the three corners where Oak Park and Shepardson intersect. The design is in progress and will be posted here when ready for review.

Next Landscape Walk-Thru Friday, April 29 at 9:30am

We will meet at the front gate and then walk-thru the grounds with a representative our landscape company, Jensen Landscape. This month the focus will be on upcoming maintenance projects.

Tree Replacements Approved

The Board approved replacements for the 4 trees removed last year:
1. Two Agonis flexuosa will replace the two melaleucas removed near the lagoon end of Bay Park Terrace.
2. An Austrailan Willow will replace the Maple tree removed by 4 Shepardson.
3. A New Zealand Christmas tree will replace the large Monterey Pine removed from Parfait near Damon.

Oak Park/Parfait Corners Design Ready for Review!

The design for the Oak Park/Parfait Corners Project is ready for review. Please click on the tab at the top of the page to view the design. Comments are welcome and may be posted below the design.

If you want your comments to be considered prior to finalizing the design, please post no later than May 15.

We are planning to plant in the fall.
